What is a ThriveMap assessment?

A ThriveMap assessment is a Realistic Job Assessment. That means instead of abstract questions or puzzles, you’ll be asked to respond to scenarios that reflect the real tasks and challenges of the job you’ve applied for.

It’s a sign that your prospective employer is serious about hiring the right people. They’ve invested time to create an assessment that shows you what the role is actually like before you decide if it’s right for you.

Why is that important? Traditional job descriptions and interviews often fail to paint a true picture of a role. That’s why so many people end up in jobs that don’t suit them — like a night owl working 6am shifts or an early bird stuck in a late-night bar job. ThriveMap assessments help avoid that mismatch.

Three tips to help you succeed

1. Be yourself — it’s about fit, not perfection

Every scenario is designed to reflect real on-the-job challenges — prioritising tasks under pressure, solving problems, or handling a difficult customer.

There are no perfect answers. What matters is how you would genuinely respond. For example, in a warehouse role you might prefer finishing one task before starting another, while others prefer juggling several at once. Both approaches can work.

Go with what feels natural to you.

3. AI won’t help here

Because ThriveMap scenarios are tied to real job tasks, searching online for “right answers” won’t help. It’s not a quiz — it’s a reflection of how you work.

Being authentic gives you the best chance of success, and it also helps the employer decide whether the job is a good fit for you.

A fair process for both sides

Employers put real effort into designing these assessments so they reflect the reality of the job. That means the process is fair, focused, and not about catching you out.

For candidates, it’s a chance to show your true strengths and get a realistic preview of the job. If you feel the role isn’t for you, you always have the option to opt out.
